What are ultimate childhood cereal treats?

These ultimate childhood cereal treats are exactly what they sound like, it’s the one vessel for all the best cereals we used to love as kids. They’ve got Cinnamon Toast Crunch, Lucky Charms, Froot Loops, Frosted Flakes, Rice Krispies, and Cocoa Pebbles. So many different flavours happening at once but in the best way possible. They also have some white creme chips mixed in to give some milky flavour to the bars. These bad boys are gooey and crunchy and sweet and nostalgic. If you want to make your inner child happy, you have to make these!

Ingredients

  • butter
  • marshmallows
  • Rice Krispies cereal
  • Cocoa Pebbles cereal
  • Cinnamon Toast Crunch cereal
  • Lucky Charms cereal
  • Frosted Flakes cereal
  • Froot Loops cereal
  • white creme chips

You can get a few of these cereal in the packs that have the really tiny boxes. That way you don’t have to buy 6 different full sized cereals. Alternatively, you could also just make a TON of ultimate childhood cereal treats and save them for a rainy day or give them to everyone you know.

How to make ultimate childhood cereal treats

This recipe is exactly the same as any other cereal treat recipe just with different cereals. One of the best things about cereal treats is how unbelievably easy they are to make. The best way to start is to prepare everything first. Start by greasing a 9”x13” pan well with butter. I also recommend generously greasing the silicone spatula you’ll be using to mix. This makes this mixing process even easier. Set these things aside to a place where you’ll be able to access them quickly.

Next, using a larger saucepan than you may think you need, melt your butter over low heat. Using a bigger pan makes it so much easier to mix the cereal in with the marshmallows and you don’t have to worry about it falling all over the place. Once the butter has melted, add the marshmallows and stir them until they are completely melted and smooth. This may take a little bit of time but it will take longer if you’re using big marshmallows so just keep that in mind. After that, you can remove the pan from the heat.

Next, add all your cereals and creme chips to the melted marshmallow and mix with your silicone spatula until all the cereal has been evenly coated. I recommend mixing everything in one bowl first before adding it to the marshmallows. This way you know everything is evenly distributed and you’ll get different cereals in one bite. It is best to work quickly but you have some time to mix so do your best to evenly cover everything.

Take your ultimate childhood cereal treat mixture and add it to your prepared pan. Spread everything out and press the mixture into the pan to the best of your abilities. You’re looking to have the mixture as even and flat as possible. After that you can either let it sit out to set or you can put it in the refrigerator. It will likely only need 15-30 minutes to set and cool completely. Then you can cut them into as many squares as you’d like and dive into your ultimate childhood cereal treats!

These would be so good for a 90s or 2000s themed party, for get togethers with kids or just to give yourself a rush of nostalgia!

How to store

If you know you’re going to finish your ultimate childhood cereal treats over the next week, you can keep them in an airtight bag or container at room temperature for up to 7 days. If you want to keep them for longer than that you can definitely freeze them, it turns out that you can freeze cereal treats really well. Just wrap them up with some wax paper and pop them into a freezer safe bag or container. Then you can keep them frozen for up to 3 months.

When you’re ready to have them again just take them out of the freezer and let them thaw completely to room temperature. And it’s as if you made them fresh that day!
