What is a sour cherry blaster mocktail?

A sour cherry blaster mocktail is a non-alcoholic drink inspired by sour cherry candy. It includes lemonade, cherry juice, and maraschino cherry syrup to bring that sour cherry taste to life. This drink is such a fun addition to your beverage menu and is perfect for adults and kids alike! I love that mocktails like these allow people to drink something fun without needing to have alcohol.

Ingredients

  • lemonade
  • cherry juice
  • maraschino cherry syrup
  • citric acid
  • club soda

How to make

Mocktails are overwhelmingly easy compared to most of my multi-step dessert recipes here on the blog. You just throw everything together, give it a little mix and you’re done! And you still get something fun and sweet at the end!

Mixing all the ingredients

Start by grabbing a larger glass or a cocktail shaker if you have one. It’s totally not necessary but it’s a nice option if you have it! Add your lemonade, cherry juice, maraschino cherry syrup, and citric acid to your mixing glass and shake or stir until everything is well combined. If you can find sour cherry nectar I highly recommend using that. It’s what I used and it was so delicious! If not, you can use tart cherry juice or any other cherry juice you can find. If you can find a cherry lemonade that would be great too, knock out two birds with one stone!

For the maraschino cherry syrup, all you have to do is get yourself some maraschino cherries and use the syrup liquid that the cherries sit in. The citric acid is what really bumps up the sour factor and makes the drink taste even more candy-like. You can add more or less than what the recipe says depending on your sour preference and tolerance. After your drink has been mixed, pour it over two glasses of ice and top with club soda or seltzer.

Sweetness adjustments

This drink makes enough for two when it’s topped with club soda. If you would rather have a larger drink or a more sweet drink, you can use these measurements for one serving and adjust the club soda to your liking. The more club soda, the less sweet it will be and the less club soda, the more sweet. That’s another fun thing about mocktails, you can always adjust them to your own personal taste!

Garnish

Now you have yourself a fun and tasty sour cherry blaster mocktail to share with your loved ones, for your next event, or just for yourself! You can garnish it with some maraschino cherries, some fresh cherries, or maybe some sour cherry candy. You could even use frozen cherries as your ice cubes, how fun would that be?! I just came up with that while writing this LOL. No matter how you style it, I hope you enjoy this little treat!
