A few years ago I found a recipe online for dark chocolate raspberry cookies. Every time I’ve made them for my friends and family they absolutely loved them. So when brainstorming recipes that I could make using boxed mix, I realized that dark chocolate and raspberries would be an amazing addition to traditional brownies. And I was right, these chocolate raspberry brownies are fantastic and again my friends and family LOVED them! The dark chocolate just emphasizes the chocolatey, fudgey-ness of the brownies. And the raspberries add such a nice burst of freshness and tartness. If you love fruit and chocolate together you will absolutely love this recipe!

The best part is that in this recipe we use a box mix so it’s extra easy and it comes together quickly. Of course, if you’re a more advanced baker or you just prefer to make your brownies from scratch, you can absolutely use your favourite brownie recipe. Brownies are one of those things that I haven’t mastered yet, so for now we use box mix! No shame in that around here, we love all the boxed mixes.

Ingredients for dark chocolate raspberry brownies

  • boxed brownie mix
  • water, oil, and eggs (as directed on the box)
  • dark chocolate
  • raspberries (I prefer frozen)
Brownie batter with extra toppings before it goes into the oven.

Instructions

I can’t say enough how easy this recipe is because it is literally just improving a box recipe. And honestly, if you don’t tell anyone, they won’t even know because the brownies will be so, so delicious. First, make your brownie mix according to the box’s instructions or make your favourite brownie recipe to your liking. Chop up one bar of the dark chocolate of your choice and add it to the mix. I like to have a variety of sizes in my chocolate pieces so that you get a good distribution in every bite. Set aside a small amount of the chocolate and some raspberries to add to the top of the pan after you’ve poured the batter. Next, add your raspberries to the mix and gently fold everything in until well combined.

Grease and line an 8”x8” pan and pour your brownie batter in, level it out as best as possible. When all the batter has been added, add the extra chocolate and raspberries you set aside to the top. Bake your brownies according to the instructions and let cool completely. Cut into squares and you have yourself some easy peasy dark chocolate raspberry brownies. Enjoy!

Ingredients

  • 1 boxed brownie mix (oil, eggs, and water included)
  • 1 bar of dark chocolate chopped
  • 2 cups raspberries frozen

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to the temperature on your box. Grease and line an 8”x8” pan, set aside.
  • Prepare your brownie mix according to the instructions.
  • Chop up the dark chocolate bar and add to the mix. Then add the raspberries.
  • Mix until well combined and add batter to the prepared pan.
  • Bake for the amount of time noted on the box or until a toothpick comes out fairly clean. Brownies are fudgy and will most likely leave something behind on a toothpick, you want to make sure the batter isn’t wet on the inside.
  • Let cool, cut into squares, and enjoy!
